EWD Program Specialist

$19.80/hr, 40 hrs/wk, 52 wks/yr

SUMMARY

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Working under general supervision and with moderate difficulty, this position is responsible for assisting individuals facing barriers to entering the workforce in developing successful career pathways.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits applicants and interviews prospective participants to assess and verify eligibility for program services
  • Administers career assessments and education tests to assist participants in developing successful career pathways
  • Develops individual service strategies and prepares contracts with service providers
  • Conducts participant orientation in areas of program services and community resources
  • Provides case management services to active participants to assess and address the need for support services
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with local employers and training facilities to ensure quality service delivery to program participants
  • Represents the agency and the department by participating on various councils, boards, and committees
  • Conducts monitoring of participant’s program-related activities and resolves issues between program participants and employers to ensure successful program outcomes
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports as necessary to ensure program compliance and to meet federal and state requirements
  • Develops and maintains case files and client management database files to ensure accuracy and program compliance

Other related duties as assigned.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma and two years’ experience in social/human services, case management, education, criminal justice, or other related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Activity:   Frequent listening, talking, sitting, repetitive motion, and reaching.  Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling.

Physical exertion:   ___ Sedentary;   _X_ Light;   ___Medium;   ___ Heavy;   ___ Very Heavy.  Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Visual requirements: Close visual acuity for compiling and analyzing data; viewing a computer screen; and reading.

Working conditions:  Occasional exposure to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, and potential physical harm.
