SUMMARY

In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Working under administrative supervision and with moderate difficulty this position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the financial activities of the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and maintains department budget
  • Creates monthly cost pool allocations and prepares transfers as needed to ensure available funds
  • Codes and approves invoices to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Maintains and updates spreadsheet of all contract balances on a daily basis to ensure complete and accurate recordkeeping
  • Reconciles department accounts and expenditure reports on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy
  • Reviews and approves monthly DES reports and balances to ensure accuracy
  • Assigns work to staff and provides necessary training
  • Serves as the point of contact for vendors to ensure efficient, effective service delivery
  • Maintains all department fiscal records and contracts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Assists with internal/external audits as necessary to ensure compliance with federal regulations
  • Coordinates office supply orders

Other related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, finance or other related field of study; and four to five years’ accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Activity:   Frequent sitting, reaching, finger use, grasping, talking, listening, and repetitive motion.  Occasional standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and feeling.

Physical exertion:   ___ Sedentary;   _X_ Light;   ___Medium;  __ Heavy;  __ Very Heavy.  Work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Visual requirements: Close visual acuity for compiling and analyzing data; viewing a computer screen; and reading.

Working conditions:  Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
