Working under general supervision and with moderate difficulty, this position is responsible for promoting programs designed to enhance the social, emotional, mental, and physical well-being of older adults.


  • Plans and designs social and recreation programs for the purpose of enriching the lives of older adults
  • Conducts individual assessments of participants to determine which activities best meet the needs of each participant
  • Assists Senior Centers with implementing and delivering program activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation
  • Assists Senior Centers with the recruitment of volunteers to promote and conduct program activities to ensure that the needs of program participants are met
  • Identifies training needs and conducts training of staff and volunteers to ensure program compliance and success
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with community partners to promote and assist in the development of program events
  • Ensures program participation and appropriateness of activities
  • Assists in identifying and creating metrics for the measurement of program success
  • Develops and conducts participant surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of program delivery
  • Completes and maintains records and reports on program activities to ensure accurate and reliable performance measurements
  • Provides input to the Health and Wellness Program planning process to ensure a comprehensive approach to program delivery
  • May supervise program volunteers

Other related duties as assigned.


High School Diploma/GED; and at least six months experience in recreational activities, working with older adults and diverse populations, and acting as a community resource; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Physical Activity:   Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, walking, finger use, and feeling.  Occasional standing, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
