Collections and Records Consultant

2026-03-10     ANFT.Earth LLC     1745 Rustic Timbers Lane     25 hour     Hybrid Remote
Description:

About ANFT

The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) has trained over 3,000 forest therapy guides across 70+ countries since 2012. We are a global leader in the practice of forest bathing and forest therapy, and the organizational home of the Standard Sequence methodology. Over more than a decade of active work in the field, we have accumulated a rich and varied collection of materials — photographs, curriculum manuscripts, printed guides, training records, and more — that represent the living history of an emerging practice tradition.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and systems-minded Collections & Records Consultant to assess, organize, and create a sustainable filing structure for ANFT's accumulated organizational materials. This is a bounded project role — ideally completed within 1–2 months — with real impact: the right person will leave behind a clear, navigable system that our team can actually maintain.

This is a meaningful project for someone who loves bringing order to complexity, cares about organizational memory, and takes satisfaction in knowing that the work they do will outlast their involvement.

Scope of Work

The project unfolds in three phases:

Phase 1: Assessment

  • Survey all existing materials — digital files, physical documents, photos, and printed curricula
  • Document what exists, where it lives, and what condition it is in
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and materials requiring special handling

Phase 2: Schema Design

  • Propose a logical organizational framework appropriate to ANFT's materials and team capacity
  • Present the schema to ANFT leadership for review and approval before implementation

Phase 3: Implementation & Handoff

  • Execute the organization according to the approved schema
  • Label, tag, and file all materials consistently
  • Deliver a brief maintenance guide so ANFT staff can keep the system working after project completion

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement organizational systems for mixed collections (digital and/or physical)
  • Strong systems thinking — you see categories, hierarchies, and relationships naturally
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and minimal supervision at the outset
  • Proficiency with digital file management tools (Google Drive, Dropbox, or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication — able to explain your organizational logic clearly to non-specialists
  • A genuine commitment to handoff: you build things other people can maintain

Preferred:

  • Experience organizing collections that include photographs and narrative documents, not just administrative records
  • Background in nonprofit administration, education, or wellness/environmental fields
  • Familiarity with metadata tagging or photo organization systems
  • Graduate-level training or practical experience in library science, information science, records management, or a related field

What We Offer

  • Competitive project-based compensation (commensurate with experience)
  • Flexible scheduling within the project timeline
  • The opportunity to contribute to the organizational legacy of a pioneering global movement
  • A warm, mission-driven team that cares about doing things well

How to Apply

Please send the following to [jackie@anft.earth] with the subject line 'Collections & Records Consultant':

  • A brief cover note (no more than one page) describing your relevant experience and your approach to a project like this
  • A resume or CV
  • One or two examples of organizational systems you have designed or implemented (descriptions, screenshots, or links — whatever best represents your work)

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.
