About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Pre-Service Scheduling Specialist to accurately schedule and pre-register patients while ensuring all insurance and authorization requirements are met. You will play a vital role in the patient journey by handling scheduling, verifying insurance, entering appropriate medical codes, and providing accurate financial estimates. Key Responsibilities Patient Scheduling & Registration: Interview patients and physician offices to schedule appointments, transcribe verbal orders, provide test prep instructions, and collect accurate demographic information.| Insurance & Financial Clearance: Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and medical necessity. Obtain necessary authorizations, provide financial estimates, and collect pre-payments (co-pays, deductibles, prior balances). Medical Coding: Enter appropriate ICD-10 codes for registration and billing purposes at the point of scheduling. Issue Resolution: Process and correct accounts held internally or rejected by payers due to registration, authorization, or financial clearance errors. Compliance & Service: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA privacy policies and provide welcoming, respectful customer service to all patients and their families. Qualifications Education & Experience: Associate Degree (in healthcare billing, accounting, or business) and 1+ years of healthcare scheduling/registration experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of related experience in healthcare scheduling, billing, or registration. Required Background: Hands-on experience in healthcare scheduling, insurance verification, ICD-10 coding, medical necessity checking, authorizations, or copay collections. Core Skills: computer, word processing, and typing skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Knowledge: Must possess a understanding of medical terminology and demonstrate solid analytical skills (assessments will be required).
