Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sonographer, you will perform a variety of advanced vascular and venous interventional ultrasound procedures.

Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.
  • Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct venous intervention procedures and diagnostic sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, patient safety and policy and procedures.
  • Reviews patient medical history, supporting clinical information and Physician order to ensure it is complete, meets standard for medical necessity and to obtain any relevant clinical information communicated on the order.
  • Applies independent professional judgement to safely perform vascular ultrasound. Ensures appropriate anatomical, pathological and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images while following department protocols.
  • Provides sonography guidance for venous interventional procedures like RF ablation, laser, sclerotherapy and phlebectomy. Maintains a working knowledge of complex venous anatomy surrounding leg ulcers including perforator anatomy and ablation techniques.
  • Performs sonography in a sterile environment, specifically around complex wounds and as required.
  • Reviews examination images to synthesize sonography examination results and prepares the preliminary findings, identifies and documents any limitations to sonography examination.
Job Requirements

Required
  • 1-3 years Two years of adult vascular ultrasound experience
  • Experience in venous intervention and peripheral vascular procedures
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows
Preferred
  • Ultrasound experience in VeinCenter/Vascular Center
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Cerner experience
