We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic, organized, self-starter to join as a Data Architect for our Consulting and Digital Transformation (CDx) line of business. As a Data Architect specializing in M&A integration, you will play a pivotal role in leading the data acquisition and integration efforts from newly acquired companies into our enterprise data platform. You will be responsible for designing and implementing a consolidated data model that aligns with the strategic objectives of our enterprise business group, enabling seamless data flow and maximizing the value of integrated data assets.


Key responsibilities

Lead Data Acquisition Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive data acquisition strategy for newly acquired companies, including:

  • Data Discovery & Profiling: Conduct thorough data discovery to identify, assess, and understand the source systems, data quality, and data structures of the acquired company.
  • Platform Mapping: Map the acquired company's existing data platforms and technologies to the enterprise data platform, identifying areas for consolidation and integration.
  • Data Flow Design: Design robust data flow architectures, encompassing both batch and real-time data movement, to ensure efficient and reliable data ingestion into the enterprise data platform.
  • Data Mapping: Define and execute data mapping rules and transformations to harmonize data from the acquired company with the enterprise data model.
  • Integration Approach: Architect and implement appropriate data integration approaches, considering various technologies and methodologies (e.g., ETL, streaming, APIs).

Enterprise Data Model Consolidation:

  • Current State Analysis: Analyze the existing enterprise data model and the acquired company's data model to identify overlaps, gaps, and potential areas for consolidation.
  • Target Data Model Design: Design and develop a consolidated, future-state enterprise data model that accommodates the integrated data assets and supports the business intelligence and analytics needs of the combined entity.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish and enforce data governance policies and data quality standards for the integrated data, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver integrated data solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data acquisition and integration teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and best practices.
  • Communicate complex data concepts and solutions clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to enhance the data acquisition and integration capabilities, leveraging cloud-native services where appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data architecture, data acquisition, and M&A integration.


Required experience and skills

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, with a significant focus on data acquisition and integration in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience leading data integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-level data architectures, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts.
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling techniques (e.g., relational, dimensional, logical, physical).
  • Deep understanding of data acquisition and integration methodologies (ETL/ELT, real-time streaming, API integration).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and cloud-native data services.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with various database technologies (e.g., relational, NoSQL).
  • Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.


Educational background and certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. TOGAF, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) are a plus.


Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in United States and hold a valid passport


Travel

This position requires frequent travel, up to 50%. Most travel is outside the local area and overnight. Some of the travel is international.
