About Besa

Besa is on a mission to transform the volunteer experience by bringing the community together in meaningful, impactful ways. Besa is an Albanian term that means "to keep the promise," and more than a decade into its work, Besa is keeping its promise to Central Ohio. Since launching in 2012, our team has rallied 98,000 volunteers, giving 245,000 hours through 15,000 service projects, and has facilitated $97M in community impact. By connecting individuals with opportunities to give back, we strengthen the very fabric of our community -- building lasting relationships and contributing to the overall well-being and resilience of Central Ohio.

About the Role

Besa's impact comes to life through the stories we tell -- volunteers making a difference, nonprofit partners serving their communities, and the moments of connection that happen when people come together in service. The Social Media Specialist is a new and exciting addition to our team who will help capture and share these stories.

Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, you'll own the execution of our social media and digital content strategy. You'll be out in the community at volunteer events, meeting people, capturing compelling content, and developing the storytelling that brings Besa's mission to life across all digital platforms. This is a hands-on role perfect for an experienced marketing professional who loves content creation, thrives on meeting new people, and wants to use their skills in a mission-driven environment.

  • Support the creation and execution of email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp
  • Monitor social media trends and analytics to suggest optimizations and enhance Besa's storytelling effectiveness
Collateral & Resource Management
  • Maintain organization of digital content, image libraries, and campaign files, ensuring all assets are accessible on Besa's platforms
  • Manage inventory of marketing materials, coordinating with vendors as needed
  • Support marketing requests from internal and external stakeholders including photography, b-roll, brand guidelines, t-shirts, and additional materials
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing flexibly to the dynamic needs of the organization

  • Background in nonprofit, community engagement, or mission-driven organizations preferred
Skills & Capabilities
  • Strong storyteller and communicator in both written and visual formats -- you know how to craft compelling narratives that bring Besa's impact to life
  • Comfortable being out in the community at volunteer events, connecting with strangers, and capturing authentic stories from volunteers and partners
