Job Title: Security Engineer II

Location: Newport Beach, California

***Must sit hybrid in the Newport Beach, CA location (2 days a week onsite)

On W2 Contract, Rate part is bit challenging for this role but we can discuss on the rate part.

Required Skills:

Candidates currently local to Southern California will be giving priority Looking for strong infrastructure support background (ie Windows, linux, storage, server administration, patching, scripting) with level 1 security knowledge Cloud security background a plus (but not a must, group is mostly on-prem)

Job Description:

• Provide subject matter specific consultation on security best practices for various topics pertaining to securing and hardening IT infrastructure.
• Design and implement security controls for servers and related IT infrastructure systems such as hypervisors, storage systems, backup systems, and mainframe.
• Collaborate with others to identify and manage security risks.
• Assist with hands-on technical validation of security controls.
• Help to plan security related projects and deliverables.
• Manage security tools to ensure best practices are being followed.
• Assist teams with vulnerability management processes.

• At least two years of experience working in a professional IT or IT Security position.
• Experience responding to or analyzing cyberattacks in an incident response capacity, or experience performing simulated cyberattacks in a penetration testing capacity.
• Experience writing and reviewing technical build documentation, policy documents, and procedure documents.
• Conceptual and/or practical understanding of the following:
• Cyberattack techniques, detections, and preventions.
• Windows / Linux operating systems.
• Virtualization and hypervisors.
• Computer Networks and Common Network Protocols.
• Active Directory.
• Backup and recovery systems.
• Mainframe systems.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter. Must be able to identify, plan, and track milestones to achieve goals with minimal direction or supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and keep track of projects in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills
• Education, and certifications:
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Active relevant security certification from a reputable organization such as ISC2, SANS GIAC, or equivalent.
