Assessor Clerk I - Assessor (Prescott)

Description:

Under general direction, researches, processes and enters data of real property assessments, business personal property accounts, and all manufactured housing.
* Maintains exemption, organizational, split and combination databases.
* Processes property and recorded documents
* Assists with general customer service duties.
* Audits income statements. Provides customers maps, variances, ownership reports, section, township, and range including working with legal descriptions utilizing GIS ArcView.
* Determines location of improvements on split parcels and compute acreage and lot dimensions.
* Audits income statements for senior valuation freeze per State Statute.
* Audits accounting of business personal property schedules and assessments.
* Audits Motor Vehicle Division reports in tracking manufactured housing county-wide.
* Maintains permit database
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of general office experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Must attend Department of Revenue Provisional training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
* Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
* Clerical office practices and procedures.
* Research techniques and report writing.
* Current Microsoft Office software.
* Filing and recordkeeping.
Skill in:
* Mathematical functions for computing, accounting, and auditing.
* Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
* Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
* Organization and adherence to detail.
Ability to:
* Within a three-month period must be able to operate Assessor specific software.
* Perform auditing, accounting functions with zero errors.
* Understand use codes, construction components, and property types for processing of appraisal data.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
* Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
* Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
* Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
* Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, and the public.
* Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
