Library Community Services Specialist

Work Schedule:
- One (1) - 19 hour per week position. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Position Summary:
Operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the Library's mission by working directly with patrons needing social service assistance by providing information, support, and referrals to appropriate organizations. Actively connects with patrons to build productive relationships. Interacts with area social agencies, governmental entities, and other relevant organizations.
Essential Duties:
- Provides information, referrals, and assistance with health care, employment, housing and other benefits.
- Delivers one-to-one technology instruction and general assistance with computers and other electronic devices.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relations with library staff and community organizations.
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains a courteous, positive image of the library; maintains confidentiality in all customer and staff interactions.
- Represents the library in networking with area agency representatives and attends community meetings.
- Assists individuals through various settings including one-on-one appointments, drop-in times, and outreach services.
- Performs other duties related to the goals of the position.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in social services or related field. At least 1 year experience working with the public in a front-line capacity. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in a public setting, which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess a valid Arizona driver's license (or obtain one within 30 days) and have a clean driving record, depending on assignment.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a library environment and in community settings.
- Safely performs physically demanding duties involving repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time.
- Safely operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, laptop and/or tablet PC, and copier requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Requires working a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
- Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicate in person, over the telephone, and via email.
