The County Attorney's Office currently has openings in both Criminal and Civil Divisions.

Yavapai County Attorney's Office is seeking highly motivated prosecutors with varied experience levels, from entry-level to veteran prosecutors. We are a collegial, paperless office that offers flexible work arrangements, including remote, in-office, or hybrid options. Employees receive mentoring without micro-management and have opportunities to conduct jury trials. Salary ranges from $83,052 (entry level) to $149,000 (experienced), depending on experience. The County Attorney position is located in Central Arizona, near Prescott, known for its natural beauty, perfect weather, granite mountains, lakes, and rolling meadows.

Major Duties, Responsibilities:

  1. Initiate and engage in criminal prosecution, civil litigation, or both, including investigating facts, analyzing legal issues, planning trial strategies, consulting with witnesses, and negotiating resolutions prior to trial.
  2. Conduct criminal and civil trials and represent the county at administrative hearings.
  3. Advise county departments and law enforcement agencies on legal matters.
  4. Perform legal research and draft legal documents such as motions, petitions, opinions, and demands.
  5. Handle appeals and post-conviction relief proceedings.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the State Bar of Arizona.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective oral and written communication, ability to analyze information, and make persuasive legal arguments.
