Help improve the lives of North Dakota citizens by partnering with our customers to meet business needs and deliver transformational customer and state constituent experiences across Team ND.

North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is seeking an Enterprise Architect for our Technology division. As a part of the State of ND's Enterprise Architecture team, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align cloud vision and strategy with the implementation of solutions.

The scope of the cloud architect includes researching public cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, collaboration technologies, identity solutions, developing solution building blocks, and evaluating cloud components against security requirements. Additionally, the cloud architect will work with other enterprise architects to create a unified enterprise vision and assist the lead enterprise architect with developing enterprise-wide infrastructure standards.

The cloud architect also serves as a backup for other members of the domain architecture team, in particular the datacenter architect who focuses on compute, storage, and data protection.

In this role you will:
•Collaborate with business stakeholders to align business vision and strategy with the implementation of cloud-based solutions.
•Evaluate and align IT change and procurements with state standards and architectural direction.
•Develop and maintain technology reference cloud architectures and roadmaps that support strategic goals and guide future direction.
•Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on technology matters and providing strategic insights and recommendations.
•Build relations with customers, vendors, and team members across the organization.
•Embrace constant change by adapting strategies, processes, and solutions to meet evolving business needs and technological advancements.
•Research new technologies to identify trends within cloud computing and embrace personal growth through learning opportunities.
•Work with other key areas within NDIT to resolve complex production problems/critical issues.
•Lead groups in the research, evaluation, and selection process for new IT solutions.

Candidate must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills and must have extensive communication skills needed to motivate, influence, and/or change behavior as well as effectively interpret and communicate highly technical information to non-technical and technical users. Candidate must be able to perform in a fast-paced, progressive, and challenging team environment and have the ability to build long-lasting, trusting relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology related field, and at least five years of current and progressive work experience recommending, procuring, and implementing information technology solutions. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Microsoft Azure and knowledge of the TOGAF framework.

Additional work experience as described may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

This position can be based anywhere in North Dakota (or a border community such as Moorhead, MN, East Grand Forks, etc), but preference will be given to candidates living or able to relocate to the Bismarck/Mandan area. For candidates living outside of Bismarck, regular travel to Bismarck will be expected through the use of the state fleet system.
