Position Overview
The Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the in-house laboratory, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency. This role plays a vital part in supporting our providers and clinical teams by delivering timely and reliable diagnostic services that directly impact patient care. The ideal candidate is an experienced lab professional with strong leadership skills and a collaborative, patient-centered mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily lab operations within the primary care clinic, ensuring alignment with patient care workflows
Supervise, train, and support laboratory staff; foster a culture of accountability and teamwork
Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and internal quality standards
Maintain lab equipment, perform routine quality checks, and coordinate service when needed
Monitor inventory of lab supplies and reagents to prevent disruptions in service
Collaborate with medical providers and clinic staff to support real-time diagnostics and improve patient outcomes
Review test results for accuracy and ensure timely documentation in the EMR system
Assist with the implementation of new lab services, protocols, and process improvements
Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Qualifications
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) preferred
Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an outpatient or primary care setting
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR); eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience is a plus
In-depth knowledge of diagnostic testing, sample handling, and clinical safety protocols
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Team-oriented with a proactive, adaptable mindset
