Position Summary:Under general supervision of a Recreation Services Supervisor, this position performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of grounds, facilities, buildings and/or landscape areas that are part of the Recreation Services. The Maintenance Technician is assigned to one or more areas within the division, such as Parks/Community Services, Lakes, Landscape, and/or Trails.
Essential Duties:- Performs or assist in mowing, aerifying, top dressing, turf seeding, fertilizing and the application of pre-emergent, post emergent, herbicide, and insecticide.
- Perform or assist in scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repair of irrigation systems such as water line breaks and broken irrigation heads
- Cleans floors, maintains and repairs equipment, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and appliances; paints building interior/exterior, maintains general areas of buildings including stairwells
- Operate wood chippers, mowers, trimmers in the care and maintenance of assigned areas
- Use and maintenance of hand and power tools.
- Operates City vehicles and Equipment such as backhoe, various skid steers, aerial lifts, and dump trucks
- Help maintain public facilities and grounds; pick up trash, debris and tree limbs; trims bushes, trees, weed abatement.
- Perform minor and preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of assigned equipment; maintains irrigation systems; sweeps sidewalks and parking lots; grooms sports fields; performs, snow removal duties; performs safety inspections on recreational facilities and equipment.
- Removes graffiti; records the location, type, and description of the graffiti removed
- Assist in the set-up, preparation and clean-up for special events
- Keep records, files, logs, ledgers, etc. of activities in order to provide accurate documentation of work performed or information that can easily be retrieved
- Initiates repairs from help tickets submitted by staff
- Mandatory overtime for nights, weekends, and special events may be required. May be placed "on-call" at times.
- Serves as a representative of the City of Prescott
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum three (3) years previous experience in general maintenance and/or construction required, and 1-year previous experience in Turf and Irrigation maintenance. Must have excellent customer service skills.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Must obtain Arizona Class A CDL within six (6) months of hire date. Must possess a valid Arizona State Applicators license (Turf and Ornamental & Right of Way Categories) or obtain within 12 months of hire. Night, evening, weekend and split shifts may be required.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state/federal/local officials, elected officials, assigned staff, and City residents.

- Ability to produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.

- Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Sufficient to effectively perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and city vehicles as needed
- Sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person, over the radio and by telephone.
- Must possess ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, perform repetitive lifting, climbing ladders, stooping, bending, and twisting and capable of lifting 60 pounds frequently with a maximum of 100 pounds
- Job hazards present may include adverse weather conditions, confined space, high traffic areas, exposure to raw sewage, chemicals, rotating equipment, noise, high-medium-low voltage, and other potentially hazardous environments
