Job Description: First Assistant PGA Golf Professional

Position Overview: The First Assistant PGA Golf Professional supports the Head Golf Professional in managing the daily golf operations, ensuring an exceptional golf experience for members and guests. This individual plays a key role in staff supervision, player services, merchandising, and instructional programs, while upholding the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.



Key Responsibilities:

1. Golf Operations:

  • Assist in managing daily golf course operations, including tee time reservations, pace of play, and tournament setup.
  • Supervise and train golf shop staff, outside service teams, and marshals.
  • Enforce golf course policies and etiquette to ensure an enjoyable experience for all players.

2. Instruction and Player Development:

  • Provide private and group golf lessons to players of all skill levels.
  • Assist in developing and implementing instructional programs and clinics.
  • Promote player development initiatives, such as junior golf programs, women's golf events, and beginner sessions.

3. Tournaments and Events:

  • Organize and oversee tournaments, outings, and special events.
  • Assist in preparing tournament schedules, formats, and marketing materials.
  • Utilize tournament software to manage registrations, pairings, and scoring.

4. Merchandising:

  • Support the Head Golf Professional in purchasing and managing inventory for the golf shop.
  • Merchandise products attractively and ensure proper pricing and promotions.
  • Monitor sales trends and assist in meeting revenue goals.

5. Customer Service:

  • Foster strong relationships with members, guests, and staff.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a welcoming and organized golf shop environment.

6. Facility Maintenance:

  • Ensure the golf shop, practice areas, and rental equipment are in excellent condition.
  • Conduct regular inspections and coordinate with maintenance teams to address issues.



Qualifications:

  • PGA Class A Membership or active pursuit of PGA certification.
  • Strong knowledge of golf rules, equipment, and operations.
  • Previous experience in a golf professional role, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in golf-related software IBS, Golf Genus, Chelsea.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
