The unit has 48 beds and consists of two sections. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Common patient diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, TIA, CVA, and various surgical patients. Nurses are required to interpret telemetry strips and sign them at least once per shift. Telemetry is monitored remotely, and technician support is available. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments but oversee unit operations. Nurse aides are present with a ratio of 1:10-15. Available equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and various breathing treatments. Shifts are 12 hours long, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Self-scheduling is utilized, but the final schedule requires manager approval. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as per rotating schedule.
